Jadwiga Szymanska

Director of Cytogenetics

Dr. Jadwiga Szymanska serves as a Director of Cytogenetics for NeoGenomics Laboratories at Fort Myers, FL. She is board certified in Clinical Cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). She received her PhD degree in cancer cytogenetics from the University of Helsinki School of Medicine, Helsinki, Finland. She completed her post-doctoral training at the Ohio State University (Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Human Cancer Genetics), Columbus, OH, followed by the fellowship in Clinical Cytogenetics at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN. She continued her training in oncology at the City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, CA as a Senior Clinical Cytogenetic Scientist. Dr. Szymanska has extensive experience in cancer cytogenetics as well as constitutional studies, including prenatal and postnatal diagnostics. She holds Cytogenetic Director Licenses for the States of Florida, California and New York. Before joining NeoGenomics Dr. Szymanska served as a Technical Director/Clinical Cytogeneticist for Genzyme Genetics and Integrated Oncology, LabCorp reporting both conventional cytogenetics and FISH test results. Dr. Szymanska is a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMGG) and a member of the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG). She published more than 50 articles and abstracts in the major peer-reviewed scientific journals.
