Specimen Requirements

Blood Slides: Two (2) bedside smears or 1 mL of peripheral blood in EDTA (purple-top) tube. Bone Marrow Bone marrow aspirate: Four (4) to eight (8) bedside smears or 1 mL in EDTA (purple-top) tube. Bone marrow core: > 1.0 cm (length) in 10% NBF fixative. Place vial in separate bag. Bone marrow clot: > 1.0 cm (length) in 10% NBF fixative. Place vial in separate bag.

Storage and Transportation

Storage & Transportation: Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen. NYS clients please provide date and time of Collection.
